Hello

Hi I am new. Just joined, from South Africa. Love to crochet! This is something I have made as a gift for a little girl.

Amigarumi Unicorn

I made the pattern up as I went along so don’t have one to post.

Granny Squares…

We had a great response to my last post about the next theme – it sounds like everyone likes the ideas of a Granny Squares theme. The great thing about Granny Squares is that you can make them as large or as small as you want, you can sew them together into all sorts of different things, and you can make them out of any size yarn and hook. So there’s plenty of potential for us to try all sorts of creative things next month.

I’m really excited about this one – I’ve never made a granny square before! Here’s a cute mosaic compiled by scrappythebandit on flickr to whet your appetites:

The new theme won’t start until January 1st, but until then I’d like to ask you all for some help. I’ve already started to collect links and ideas, but I need more! If you know of any awesome granny-square-related links, please send them my way (craft@planetjune.com) and then I can set everything up so we can start the new theme in style in the new year.

Happy holidays!
June

Daisy change purse

A last minute gift for my sister. She said she wanted a change purse to take with her to the gym, so I crocheted this little one with some left over yarn.

This was my first attempt at adding a zipper, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t that difficult.

Geometric

I just made two more Christmas presents. These are my little mini Geometric Pillows.

They just measure about 22cm; they are very cute for a girl’s room.

I made the same way has the Bobbles pillow, only this time I used geometric crochet to decorate the front.

Here are my final two Christmas presents:

I bought my grandmother a shirt for Christmas and figured some hangers would be nice. Next time I will use nicer yarn. This stuff drove me crazy.

I totally messed up a little hat for my best friend’s daughter, so I had to hurry up and crochet something. I decided on this penguin since I got her some penguin pajamas.

And here is my second attempt at a hat. I don’t know what it is with me and hats, but I can’t do them.

At least I found a use for this one. 🙂

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays!

christmas pudding!

I designed this little ornament last night:

I’ve also written up the pattern for it in case you’d like a Christmas Pudding to hang on your tree 🙂

My family decided to pick names for Christmas presents this year and I got my cousin Jamie. I bought her a blue and gray turtleneck sweater, so I whipped up this scarf to match.

Recent Christmas Gifts

I made this lil’ guy for my 16yo daughter–who loves penguins–with the intention of putting it in her stocking, but he was so cute, I didn’t want to wait.

Amigurumi Penguin

The pattern is on Lion Brand’s site for free (with an account), and can be found here: Amigurumi Penguin.

I also made this baby blanket for the new addition to come into our family in March:

Baby Boy Blanket

The pattern can be found in the January ’08 issue of Crochet! magazine. I plan to make a pair of booties and a little hat to go with it, as well as some bibs and wash cloths.

Then there’s this blanket:

Claret Blanket 01

It’s also a Lion Brand pattern using their S-35 hook. It was quick and easy & the blanket is super-soft. It’ll be given to one of my step-daughters and her husband.

I still have crocheting to do for the holidays, but my project list is actually getting shorter…finally!

New Theme?

Well hello there everyone! Although we’re looking for a replacement for Eve, I am still here as your co-editor. I’ve just realised that our Christmas-Along theme was due to end on December 1st. I propose that, as Christmas is still a few weeks away, we extend the theme until January 1st. That way, we’ll have time to show off any last minute gifts and ornaments we make! Is that okay with everyone?

Assuming it is, we’ll be looking for a new theme to begin January 1st, 2008. Any ideas for that? I’ll start a new poll when we have some suggestions. Here are a few to start us off:

  • Amigurumi (again!)  – there’s no such thing as too much ami fun!
  • Bags/purses
  • Granny squares and items made from granny squares

I’m sure we can do better than just 3 ideas though… Please leave a comment with your ideas or suggestions for the next theme! And happy crocheting 🙂

Wanted: New Administrator

Hi Everybody,

I know you have not seen any posts from me for a long time. My life has been turned up side down over the last couple of weeks. Don’t worry it is all good but it has been quite a journey.  Unfortunately I feel I cannot give enough time to the Crochet Along and was hoping that somebody would like to take over my task.

Please leave a comment here if you feel inspired and think you can give around 15-30 min a day of your time.

Thanks! Eve

This was the Christmas present to myself that I started forever ago!  I had some troubles along the way, and it still looks lumpy, but I learned a lot from it so I think I will have much better luck in the future!  I also didn’t realize how much material would be needed!  I think next time it would be better to use sheets or something large like that so I don’t run out of the colors I want right away.  But I wanted this rug to be small anyway, so it would just fit underneath the piano bench, so it may be small but it’s just right!
